Lawmakers criticized the fact that the regional director of Senapred in Bío Bío has been on vacation for a month during the peak of the wildfire season. Meanwhile, the government assured that work in the service continues under an acting authority.

On December 13, the regional director of Senapred, Alejandro Sandoval, began his vacation. The official took his legal leave during the height of the wildfire season and while the region has been under alert due to extreme temperatures—conditions that increase the risk of fires.

Deputy Eric Aedo (DC) described the absence of the Senapred director as serious and announced he would formally address the issue with the national director of the Service and the Ministry of the Interior, considering it a lack of judgment.

Meanwhile, Democrat Deputy Joanna Pérez stated that "it is serious and concerning that the Bío Bío region is without a Senapred director, especially since the director of Conaf also resigned."

The presidential delegate of Bío Bío, Eduardo Pacheco, pointed out that the regional director of Senapred is using his legal leave and that work in the service has continued under an acting director.

The regional director of Senapred, Alejandro Sandoval, will return to work next Monday after more than a month of vacation.
