Twelve fires fought by CMPC firefighters over the weekend

A total of 12 fires were fought this weekend by the CMPC team, emergencies occurring during a period of Yellow Alert and Red Alert—for the Biobío Province—with risky weather conditions, including high temperatures and strong winds.

This Sunday, as of this afternoon, 6 fires have been recorded: 1 in the Maule Region, 3 in the Araucanía Region, and 2 in Biobío. One of them occurred just as the day began, around 00:05 hours, at the Pinares de San Pedro de la Paz estate. A ground crew arrived there, with a total of 10 firefighters managing to extinguish the blaze.

In the afternoon, CMPC teams moved to the Tralhuenes estate in the Pencahue commune (Maule Region), where 1 tanker plane, 1 mechanized brigade, and 3 ground brigades arrived, totaling 28 firefighters in action. This emergency is currently in the mop-up phase.

Meanwhile, in the Araucanía Region, 3 emergencies were addressed: one at the Los Tilos estate in the Los Sauces commune, with 1 coordination plane, 6 tanker planes, 1 helitransported brigade, 3 ground brigades, and 1 mechanized brigade, totaling 33 firefighters. At this time, the fire is still being fought.

The other two were at the Las Vegas estate (Lot 2) in the Cholchol commune, where 2 ground brigades assisted, with 16 firefighters in total. This fire is in the initial attack phase. Minutes later, a fire broke out at the Los Prados estate in the Victoria commune, where 1 coordination plane and 3 tanker planes arrived. Currently, this emergency is under combat.

As of now, the latest fire recorded is at the La Mona and Los Tilos estate in the Los Ángeles commune, where 1 coordination plane, 3 tanker planes, 1 Chinook helicopter, and 1 Super Puma helicopter are working, along with 3 helitransported brigades and 1 ground brigade, totaling 42 firefighters. The fire is in the initial attack phase.

With today's fires, a total of 12 emergencies have been recorded over the weekend. As of now, 4 fires are under control, 2 are in the mop-up phase, 2 are extinguished, 2 are in initial attack, and 2 are still being fought.
