Farmers from Malleco Request Increased Military and Police Presence from Boric Following Recent Attacks
Farmers from the province of Malleco have requested President Gabriel Boric to increase the presence of the Army and Carabineros in the area, expressing their concern over the arson attacks recorded this week in the La Araucanía region.
Two violent arson attacks occurred this week in La Araucanía, affecting forestry operations in Victoria and Los Sauces, prompting the government to file criminal complaints.
A situation that worries the farmers' association in Malleco province, who fear an escalation of violent incidents in the area.
In this regard, through a letter addressed to President Gabriel Boric, they requested measures to prevent such occurrences, stating that a greater deployment of Army personnel is needed to patrol the region.
The president of the Malleco farmers' association, Sebastián Naveillán, stated that government adjustments are necessary, criticizing the presidential delegate, Eduardo Abdala, for failing to provide clear signals on this issue.
CAM Claims Responsibility for Attack
In recent hours, the Coordinadora Arauco Malleco, through the territorial resistance group Nagche Pelontraru, claimed responsibility for the attack at the Rinconada estate in Los Sauces, near the border with Lumaco, where four trucks and a crane were destroyed.
In their statement, they demand the withdrawal of forestry companies from the region and the release of self-proclaimed Mapuche political prisoners.
