Carabineros trains Conaf in strengthening wildfire investigation

The Labocar Talca Criminalistics Section conducted two intensive training sessions for brigade leaders of the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf) in the communes of Hualañé and Cauquenes. The purpose of these sessions has been twofold: on one hand, to reinforce interinstitutional collaboration, and on the other, to standardize procedures at wildfire scenes to optimize investigation and response to these natural disasters.

The initiative has involved the active participation of specialized experts from Labocar Talca, as well as professionals from the regional prosecutor's office of Maule and the Chilean Investigative Police (PDI). Through a multidisciplinary approach, various themes crucial in the field of criminalistics investigation and fire management have been addressed, such as cause identification, evidence preservation, and effective coordination among the different agencies involved.

This joint effort not only seeks to improve efficiency and effectiveness in combating wildfires but also reaffirms Carabineros de Chile's commitment to protecting people and the environment. By promoting high technical standards and constant cooperation, it is expected that the emergency response capacity for such events will become increasingly rapid and effective, thereby minimizing the devastating impact these events can have on affected communities and ecosystems.

The training was well received by Conaf's brigade leaders, who play a fundamental role on the front lines of defense against wildfires. With the tools and knowledge acquired, it is expected that they will be able to lead their teams with greater confidence and precision, ensuring coordinated and professional action during critical moments.

This type of collaboration underscores the importance of joining forces among different governmental and security entities in Chile, demonstrating that preparation and continuous education are essential pillars for successfully facing the challenges imposed by nature.
