Forestry exports from the Ñuble Region recorded a sharp contraction during September 2025, reaching only US$25.4 million, which represents a year-on-year drop of 58.1%, according to the Regional Silvoagricultural Export Bulletin prepared by the Office of Agrarian Studies and Policies (Odepa) with data from the National Customs Service.

The decrease is mainly explained by the lower value of pulp shipments, which remains the most relevant product of the sector but faces an unfavorable international scenario, marked by a sustained drop in prices and lower global demand.

In the cumulative period from January to September of this year, forestry shipments from Ñuble totaled US$457.6 million, recording a 15.7% decrease compared to the same period in 2024. This decline reflects the impact of adjustments in the pulp market, which has reduced margins across the entire industry, directly affecting producers and exporters in the region. However, some segments of the forestry sector managed to maintain positive performance, showing the progressive diversification of the sector in Ñuble.

Among these, exports of processed wood stand out, which grew by 20.2%, totaling US$146.2 million, driven by increased demand for finished products in Latin American and Asian markets. Sawn wood also showed significant dynamism, with a 38.5% increase and shipments of US$95.8 million, demonstrating a recovery in the value chain of the secondary wood industry.

Even so, pulp remains the main driver of the sector, with US$213.2 million exported between January and September, despite its 38.8% decline. The decrease is attributed both to the reduction in international prices and to lower activity in key markets, such as China and Europe, which have slowed their demand for industrial inputs due to global economic uncertainty.

Overall, silvoagricultural exports from Ñuble totaled US$52 million in September, with a 37.4% contraction compared to the same month in 2024. In the national balance, sector shipments showed a cumulative 3% decrease, with declines of 4.6% in the forestry sector and 3.9% in the agricultural sector, figures that reflect a widespread slowdown, although more pronounced in regions with strong forestry weight, like Ñuble.
