CMPC reinforces brigade member preparation with international wildfire combat certification
Ahead of the upcoming wildfire season, CMPC implemented a training program that sets a milestone in the sector: for the first time, the company's brigade members were trained under U.S. National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) standards, certified by Fire Foundation.
The initiative, celebrating 10 years of development, aims to combine physical training, technical demands, and teamwork strengthening, enhancing emergency response capabilities. In this first phase, 150 brigade members received certification, and the plan aims to exceed one thousand trained and field-evaluated collaborators during the season.
"The goal is to ensure a faster and more effective response that protects not only CMPC's assets but also neighboring communities," emphasized Germán López, representative of Fire Foundation.
Meanwhile, Rafael Correa, Forest Manager of CMPC in Chile and Argentina, stressed that the objective is to provide international-level tools: "It's not a one-off course but a continuous training process that incorporates new technologies and practices each year."
The training included physical tests, simulations with different fuel types, and team cohesion exercises, reinforcing a comprehensive preparation model that positions CMPC at the forefront of wildfire combat in the country.
