Another Suspect in Grollmus Mill Attack in Contulmo Arrested in Cañete

In Cañete, Bío Bío region, S.R.P. (18) was arrested, another suspect involved in the attack on Grollmus Mill that occurred in Contulmo in August 2022.

According to Radio Bío Bío, the individual was apprehended by the PDI in the Tranguilboro area.

It was also specified that the young man - who was 16 years old at the time of the attack - would be a member of the Lafkenche Resistance (RML), the organization to which several of the accused in the attack belong.

With this latest arrest, the number of people detained to date in connection with the investigation of the attack rises to 20.

The last one, following the capture in Tirúa, had been Gerson Alejandro Luengo Navarrete.

The latter was formally charged - as a co-perpetrator - with four counts of attempted aggravated homicide, four counts of arson, two counts of violent robbery, illegal possession of firearms, and unjustified shooting in a public place.

The armed attack, carried out on August 29, 2022, left one member of the Grollmus family with the loss of an eye and another with the amputation of one of his legs.

Government on New Arrest for Grollmus Mill Attack

The Provincial Presidential Delegate of Arauco, Humberto Toro, stated that "today we have once again had a success, with the arrest of one of the people involved in the serious attack on Grollmus Mill."

"The Investigative Police, together with Jedena, have achieved this twentieth arrest," added Toro.

In that regard, he also specified that "we will return to peace, and all those who have been involved in acts of violence in the province of Arauco will be arrested and imprisoned."
