Acoforag Denounces State Inaction Following New Terrorist Attack in Cunco
In light of the serious terrorist attack that occurred in the commune of Cunco, La Araucanía Region, on November 9, which once again affected a forestry contractor with the total loss of their work equipment, the Association of Forestry Contractors A.G. declares the following:
- Terrorist violence remains fully entrenched in La Araucanía, despite the figures, statements, and justifications from the Ministry of Security and the Government. The reality is singular: insecurity and fear continue to dominate the area.
- Without political backing from the State, the police and Armed Forces deployed in the territory remain limited in their actions, reduced to "patrolling and controlling roads" without the capacity or legal tools to prevent attacks and intervene actively.
- It is unacceptable and striking that, even with a State of Exception in effect, none of these attacks are prevented, and security forces always arrive when everything is already destroyed: machinery burned, constructions razed, and private property reduced to ashes.
- It is urgent to advance the Law on Rules of Use of Force, the Intelligence Law, and the Critical Infrastructure Law, projects that are stalled in Congress. Without these instruments, it will be impossible to control the terrorist groups entrenched in the Southern Macrozone, who move freely causing harm, destruction, and fear.
- We no longer expect anything from this Government, nor from the current legislators.
The Association of Forestry Contractors A.G. reiterates its absolute repudiation of these criminal acts and continues to demand from the State, after 12 uninterrupted years of extreme violence, real and effective actions to guarantee security, work, and life in southern Chile.
