Arrested for Starting Forest Fire in El Quisco

A serious environmental incident shook the commune of El Quisco when a man was arrested for allegedly starting a forest fire in the rural area of the Seminario estate.

The suspect, identified only by his initials P.P.T.P., was caught in the act by the Forest Patrol of the San Antonio Carabineros, who quickly responded to the fire alert.

The fire, which swept through approximately 1,200 square meters of vegetation, mobilized a large emergency contingent, including three Firefighter units, two water bomber planes, a helicopter from the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), and a water tanker truck from Algarrobo. Additionally, Public Safety personnel and Carabineros worked hard to control the flames.

The detainee was placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for the crime of forest fire. Currently, relevant investigations are being carried out to determine the exact circumstances that led to the start of the fire and whether there was intent behind the act.

This incident not only represents significant damage to the local ecosystem but also highlights the importance of prevention and the rapid action of authorities in environmental emergency situations.
