In the forests of southern Chile, where nature still unfolds with unspoiled strength, a story emerges that weaves together family tradition, quiet work, and deep respect for the environment. It is the story of the Quilodrán-Vidal family, beekeepers who have made the forest their ally and their school.

René Quilodrán, the eldest of the clan, was the one who started this journey. With patience and observation, he learned to read the forest's signals, to listen to the buzzing of the bees, and to understand the delicate balance that sustains the southern ecosystems. This knowledge, built over years of experience, he passed on to his son Patricio, who grew up from childhood among hives, native flowers, and the natural cycles that define wildlife.

Today, alongside his wife Verónica Vidal, Patricio continues this tradition with a commitment that goes beyond honey production. Their work is based on a relationship of respect with the land, where each hive is a small community contributing to pollination and the health of the forest. For them, bees are not just part of a trade: they are vital agents that keep the processes running, allowing the forest to remain diverse and generous.

At Acoforag, we value and highlight these stories that originate from within the forest and show how productive activities can coexist with conservation. The Quilodrán-Vidal family represents the kind of responsible management that strengthens the forest culture of southern Chile: one that understands that the well-being of the land is also the well-being of those who inhabit it.

In every hive, in every harvest season, in every day of work amidst the forest, this family reaffirms that the connection with nature can become a sustainable way of life. Their example demonstrates that when working with respect and awareness, the forests continue to provide their wealth to present and future generations.
