A new act of violence shook the La Araucanía region when a truck loaded with wood logs was set on fire on the access road to the cemetery in the commune of Nueva Imperial.

The Territorial Resistance Organization (ORT) Leftraru claimed responsibility for the attack through a banner found at the scene, which also referenced Mapuche political prisoners and Julia Chuñil, a woman who disappeared in the Los Ríos region.

Investigative Police (PDI) Commissioner René Valenzuela reported that the Special Police Investigations Brigade (BIPE) and the Criminalistics Laboratory teams are conducting the relevant investigations. "During the scientific-technical work carried out by specialized personnel, a claim banner linked to rural violence was found at the location," detailed Valenzuela.

Although the attack did not result in any injuries, the incident has heightened security concerns in the area. The civil police deployed a large operation in the sector in search of those responsible, although no arrests have been reported so far.

This event adds to a series of similar actions that have taken place in the region, where the demand for territorial rights by Mapuche communities has generated conflicts. The banner left by ORT Leftraru highlights the ongoing tension and the call to action by some sectors in support of the Mapuche cause.

Authorities have reiterated their commitment to security and the search for peaceful solutions to territorial conflicts. However, this new episode of violence underscores the complexity of the situation in La Araucanía and the urgency of addressing the demands of indigenous communities comprehensively.
