The Ministry of National Assets filed a criminal complaint against those found responsible for tree felling in Nonguén National Park, Bío Bío region.

A week ago, unknown individuals entered the premises in a vehicle to extract timber. Following an inspection, park rangers confirmed the unauthorized logging of over 30 trees, which according to Conaf corresponded to oak, aromo, lingue, and avellanillo species.

As a result, the Ministry of National Assets, which owns the fiscal property, filed a complaint against those responsible for the illegal logging. This was detailed by the Regional Ministerial Secretary of the portfolio, Sebastián Artiaga.

Meanwhile, various security and surveillance measures have been taken, stated the acting director of Conaf in Bío Bío, Pablo Gajardo. Patrols have already been increased in the area, and new trail cameras have been implemented.

The new measures were appreciated by the neighborhood councils in the area, who highlighted the importance of the park.

Monitoring tasks will be carried out by park rangers and Conaf inspectors, with the support of the OS5 of Carabineros.
