The Regional Ministerial Secretary (Seremi) of Security of Bío Bío, Paulina Stuardo, confirmed that the Government filed a lawsuit last Monday invoking the Anti-Terrorism Law for the arson attack that occurred in Contulmo on Wednesday, November 12, for which two accused individuals were placed in preventive detention.

"Yesterday, before the hearing took place, we filed the lawsuit invoking the Anti-Terrorism Law regarding terrorist association by these individuals," stated Stuardo.

In that regard, the authority reiterated that "in our case, we are prosecuting for terrorist association, which is another legal category, and we hope that all possible tools can be used to establish these legal types."

After an extensive day at the Cañete Guarantee Court, the aforementioned precautionary measure was decreed against the accused.

It should be noted that these individuals were detained by the Armed Forces near Lleu Lleu Lake, following a police chase in conjunction with the Carabineros' COP.

In that context, short and long weapons were seized. Previously, two trucks that had been stolen during the attack were recovered.

It is worth remembering that during the arson attack, which occurred on the morning of November 12, a group of 10 to 12 hooded individuals burned at least 10 vehicles on an Arauco forestry property, including trucks, a van, and machinery.

At the scene, the antisocial individuals threatened workers and also teachers who were passing by on a road during the attack.

Finally, the justice system set a 10-month investigation period for the case, and the accused will be transferred to the Temuco Penitentiary Compliance Center (CCP) in the La Araucanía region.
