University of Bío-Bío Drives Innovation in the Forestry and Timber Sector

The Technology Transfer and Licensing Office of the University of Bío-Bío (OTL-UBB) took a significant step towards integrating academia with the forestry and timber productive sector by presenting its technological portfolio to users of the Dendroenergy program of the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf) in Chillán.

Roxana Herrera, technology manager of OTL-Ñuble, highlighted the scientific capabilities and technological developments of UBB, which promise to revolutionize efficiency and sustainability in forest resource management.

The Ñuble region, with its high dendroenergy potential, faces challenges in innovation and sustainability. UBB, responding to this need, has presented technologies and services including biopanels from forest waste, circular economy patents, and applied engineering laboratories. The OTL-UBB's visit to Conaf aims to promote the circular economy and optimize productive processes in the sector.

Dr. Guillermo Petzold, UBB's Innovation Deputy Director, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, which positions the university as a key player in generating applied knowledge.

The session concluded with a commitment to organize thematic working tables and the possibility of signing collaboration agreements for the adoption of UBB technologies in the sector.

OTL-UBB continues working to consolidate a regional innovation ecosystem that responds to the needs of the forestry and energy industry, marking a milestone in connecting university research with territorial demands.
