In Curanilahue, land of guitars and accordions, the story of Luis Yancamán is written, a man who learned from childhood that life is forged with effort, joy, and inherited values. His father, a miner who left for the north at 18, left him the legacy of sacrifice and humility, marks that forever shaped his character.

Love and Humble Beginnings

Together with his wife, Alba Luz Fontalba, he built his life from the most basic. "We started with a bed and some cups," he recalls emotionally. In Alba, he found more than a companion: he found the wise administrator who knew how to care for the little they had. "I would give her the money, and she would save it," he says gratefully, acknowledging that trust and shared work were the foundations of their home.

The Affection Earned

A special place in his heart is held by his father-in-law, Polidoro Segundo Fontalba, whom Luis considers a second father. "At first, when I took his daughter away, he was so-so... but later I earned his affection," he comments with laughter. With him, he dreamed and built a house, always recognizing his role as "head of the household and family."

Pride at the End of the Day

Today, Luis and Alba's children look with pride at the example they received. Luis, a machinery operator, values his trade but asserts that the most important thing happens when the workday ends: "You connect with the machine, but the most important thing is to come home, share how the day was, and see your loved ones proud."

From Acoforag, we highlight the effort of those working in the forestry sector.
