New Attack Leaves Seven Forest Machines Destroyed in La Araucanía

In another act of violence in the La Araucanía region, unidentified individuals perpetrated an arson attack in the commune of Cunco, resulting in the destruction of seven forestry machines. The incident, which took place at the Galicia property, is the fourth attack reported in the region since Friday, intensifying the debate about security and the presence of terrorism in the area.

Subprefect Daniel Araneda Suazo, acting head of the Temuco Special Police Investigations and Anti-Kidnapping Brigade (BIPE), reported that the attack occurred in the morning hours and that the Public Ministry requested the intervention of the specialized brigade to investigate the events.

Commissioner Héctor Bravo indicated that banners alluding to rural violence were found at the scene, which could indicate the motivation behind the attack.

Deputy for La Araucanía, Andrés Jouannet (Amarillos), condemned the attack and criticized the Government for its refusal to recognize the existence of terrorism in the region. Jouannet made a direct call to President Gabriel Boric to visit La Araucanía and take more drastic measures, including military intervention, to confront those responsible, identified by him as the WAM.

Meanwhile, the Regional Ministerial Secretary of Public Security of La Araucanía, Israel Campusano, dismissed the idea that recent attacks indicate a rearticulation of violent groups, but rather a reorganization. Campusano emphasized the need for security strategies to be dynamic and continuously adapt to effectively confront this type of criminal activity.

This is the fourth attack reported in the region since Friday, with previous attacks in Carahue and Vilcún that also affected machinery. The situation in La Araucanía remains a critical issue for authorities and the community, as a solution to the violence affecting the area is sought.
