The Association of Forestry Contractors (Acoforag) values the electoral process that took place on December 14, in which José Antonio Kast was elected President of the Republic. As a trade association, we express our willingness to collaborate constructively with the new authorities to promote the sustainable development of the forestry sector.

This sector, fundamental for thousands of workers and the national economy, faces significant challenges in terms of security, productive reactivation, and strengthening of the value chain. In this context, Acoforag hopes that the new Government will consider the following priorities for the upcoming period:

1. Security for workers and forestry operations, advancing measures that allow us to carry out our work in a protected environment. For years we have been victims of terrorism in the southern macro-zone.

2. Recognition and strengthening of the work of contractors, ensuring conditions that allow for the continuity of operations and the sustainability of small and medium-sized enterprises in the sector.

3. Promotion of reforestation and/or afforestation, to improve the availability of future forests and help mitigate climate change, aiming to achieve carbon neutrality by the year 2050.

4. Promotion of local employment and training, enabling more rural communities to participate safely and formally in forestry activities.

Acoforag reaffirms its commitment to the country's development and the responsible management of forests, and trusts that the joint work between the new Government and the private sector will allow progress towards a safer, more productive, and sustainable future.
