The Government announced an investment of approximately $850 million pesos aimed at the economic recovery of individuals and businesses that have suffered due to rural violence in the provinces of Biobío and Arauco. This measure is part of the Support Program for People Affected by Rural Violence Events, coordinated by the Ministry of the Interior and executed by Sercotec.

During the latest session of the Regional Technical Committee, 20 cases that have experienced significant damage due to violence in these areas were approved. The regional presidential delegate, Eduardo Pacheco, emphasized that the program seeks to provide resources to those who have lived through extreme situations after suffering attacks or assaults.

In the Province of Biobío, 16 cases were presented, with 14 of them related to the attack in Rucalhue this year. The funds will be used to replace vehicles, machinery, and essential equipment, allowing the victims to resume their work and productive activities. Javier Fuchslocher, provincial delegate of Biobío, highlighted the efficient work carried out to confront rural violence and fulfill the commitments of economic development and compensation for the victims.

On the other hand, in the Province of Arauco, 4 cases were analyzed, mainly related to damage to plantations and forestry activities. Humberto Toro, delegate of the province, stressed that this policy is a long-term response and a necessary state vision to overcome violence and promote development.

Mauricio Torres, regional director of Sercotec, reported that the annual budget for this support line amounts to one billion pesos. In this session, cases totaling approximately 850 million were approved, with 600 million allocated to Rucalhue and the remainder to Arauco. Furthermore, he mentioned that there are 11 cases pending evaluation, which are expected to be approved soon.

The Support Program for People Affected by Rural Violence Events funds economic recovery plans that include the replacement of essential goods for productive reactivation. Each case is supported by a technical-economic report, a damage assessment, and an individualized work plan, aiming to restore productive capacity and rebuild the livelihoods of those affected.
