Forestry Contractors Condemn Attack in Collipulli and Trust in Security Reinforcement
René Muñoz, manager of the Forestry Contractors Association, condemned the attack that affected a truck belonging to the Compañía Manufacturera de Papeles y Cartones (CMPC) in the Curaco sector, in the commune of Collipulli, La Araucanía Region, where a group of hooded individuals perpetrated the attack.
The leader stated that the union has confidence in the security measures that the future Government of José Antonio Kast will implement. "(We are) ending the year with a new attack on a forestry contractor; this has been the trend over the last 12 years. We have well-founded hopes that this can change with the new Administration, with new measures and more political will to solve this issue that has been afflicting us for a long time," he said.
To recall, as reported by Acoforag, according to preliminary information, four armed individuals threatened two company workers, forcing them to get out of the vehicle and then burning it in the area.
The situation prompted a large-scale operation by the Investigative Police (PDI) and the Carabineros Forensic Laboratory.
The PDI sub-commissioner of Angol, Sebastián Lara, reported that the incident "was recorded at the El Progreso estate and the victims were workers from a forestry operation, after which they stole items and set fire to a truck."
