ILO Accepts Acoforag's Complaint Regarding Labor Safety in the Southern Macrozone
The International Labour Organization (ILO) accepted the complaint filed by the Association of Forestry Contractors A.G. (Acoforag) against the State of Chile for non-compliance with Convention 187 on Occupational Safety and Health, and resolved to establish a Tripartite Committee for voluntary conciliation, a decision that has already been communicated to the Government.
The complaint was filed on July 15, 2025, in the context of the persistence of violent incidents in the Southern Macrozone, which—according to Acoforag—endanger the lives, physical integrity, and mental health of forestry workers.
The association stated that this acceptance by the ILO reinforces the obligation of the State of Chile to comply with the international conventions it has signed and to guarantee safe working conditions, especially in areas where workers are exposed to violent attacks during the performance of their duties.
