Year Ends with New Arson Attack in La Araucanía: Two Trucks Burned in Collipulli
In the early hours of this Wednesday morning, an arson attack was recorded at the Santa Balbina Estate, located on the route to San Andrés, in the Malleco province, Araucanía region.
According to reports from Carabineros, at least three armed individuals broke into the location, intimidating forestry workers before setting two trucks on fire using an accelerant. Firefighters arrived at the site to extinguish the flames, while authorities have launched an investigation to find those responsible for the attack.
Commander Aldo Vittini, sub-prefect of the Malleco Prefecture Services, detailed the event: "Around 5:00 in the morning, at least 3 subjects armed with firearms arrived at a site located on Route R-35 in the Commune of Collipulli, subsequently intimidating the workers who were at this location carrying out forestry tasks."
Vittini added that, after intimidating the workers, the attackers doused the trucks with an accelerant, causing them to combust and leaving a banner at the scene, the message of which has not yet been revealed.
The incident did not result in the use of firearms or injuries, but did result in the total destruction of the affected vehicles. The presence of a banner at the scene suggests an act with specific motivations, although the identity or affiliation of the attackers has not yet been confirmed.
The Army provided initial support in the police operation, and the first details of the case have already been submitted to the Public Prosecutor's Office, which has assigned the Investigative Police (PDI) to lead the inquiries.
This attack adds to a series of similar incidents that have affected the region recently, highlighting the existing tension and the need to find lasting solutions for peace and security in La Araucanía.
