La Araucanía on Alert Due to Imminent Risk of Forest Fires
La Araucanía is under a preventive alert status following a declaration by the National Disaster Prevention and Response Service (Senapred), prompted by the threat of forest fires due to an approaching heatwave.
The Forest Fire Protection Department of the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf) has identified high-risk areas, and the Meteorological Directorate has issued a high-temperature warning that will affect the region from the afternoon of Saturday, December 6th, until the afternoon of Monday, December 8th.
The decision to establish the Early Preventive Alert for La Araucanía is based on technical data provided by Conaf and coordination with the Regional Presidential Delegation. The measure aims to reinforce surveillance and monitoring of at-risk areas, as well as to prepare the National Disaster Prevention and Response System to respond promptly in case of emergencies.
The alert implies a state of maximum attention and preparedness. Authorities have urged the public to stay informed and follow safety recommendations, such as avoiding outdoor activities that could generate sparks or fire and reporting any signs of fire to the competent authorities.
The Regional Directorate of Senapred has activated emergency protocols and is working closely with Conaf and other agencies to ensure a rapid and effective response. Additional resources have been allocated, including firefighter brigades and teams specialized in managing forest fires, to address any eventuality.
The community of La Araucanía is on alert, aware of the importance of prevention and citizen collaboration to avoid an environmental catastrophe. The alert will remain in effect until weather conditions improve and the risk of fires decreases.
