Wildfire Season in Curicó with Positive Outcome Thanks to Swift Response
The Curicó Fire Department has rated its performance in wildfire prevention and control during the 2024-2025 season as positive.
Superintendent Jorge Gonzalez Ruz, in statements to VLN Radio's Press Room, highlighted the quick response of volunteers and effective coordination with the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), key factors in preventing major emergencies in the area.
"The swift action of our volunteers, combined with Conaf's efficient work, has kept the situation under control," stated González. The fire authority also emphasized the speed with which Conaf has deployed its units to address emergencies.
On another note, Superintendent González expressed concern about the wildfires recorded in California, USA, during winter—an unusual phenomenon in Chile. "We are monitoring what is happening in California, as this type of winter wildfire is uncommon in our country," he noted.
Finally, the Curicó Fire Department reiterates its call to the community to immediately report smoke or fire sightings by contacting emergency numbers: 132 (Fire Department) or 130 (Conaf).
