The manager of the Association of Forestry Contractors, René Muñoz, reported three arson attacks in Bío Bío and called on authorities to take measures to prevent them. "We believe it is necessary for the authorities to focus on understanding what is happening. We cannot keep doing the same thing," Muñoz stated.

"We must be doing something wrong because these terrorist cells are reappearing, attacking and destroying the forestry activity in the area," he emphasized.

Meanwhile, authorities from the Bío Bío and La Araucanía regions addressed the recent arson attacks that have affected various sectors of the so-called southern macrozone.

Recall that the most recent incident occurred over the weekend in Arauco Province, where unidentified individuals burned two machines and three containers in an attack claimed by the Qeichan Auca Mapu.

Regarding this, the presidential delegate of Arauco, Humberto Toro, stated, "I would call them orphans of violence, people who seek and try to display banners with political prisoners."

"Therefore, they are orphans of violence, of crime, and we hope that, definitively, we can also arrest them—and it is very likely that will happen," he added.

For his part, the presidential delegate of La Araucanía, Edgardo Abdala, referred to the figures of rural violence incidents recorded so far this year.

"There have been 37 rural violence incidents. Several criteria compose this figure; however, beyond comparing it to last year's data, one should analyze how the trend has evolved in recent years," he said.

"In that context, remember that in 2021, according to Carabineros, we had 1,076 rural violence incidents, while in 2024, we only had 249," he concluded.

From the Araucanía Multi-Guild Association, its president, Patricio Santibáñez, stated that "attacks and serious acts of violence in 2025 amount to eight. However, this count does not include intentional arson, which, in our view, are very serious attacks, and for which there is no determined number yet."
