Six communes in the La Araucanía region do not have a Communal Emergency Plan, while 10 also lack a Disaster Risk Reduction Plan.

In this regard, the government stated that Senapred is providing support to municipalities to develop these tools.

Wildfires, floods, or volcanic risks are some of the situations that could affect various communes in La Araucanía, where some municipalities already have both tools to respond to such events.

One is the Emergency Plan, and according to Senapred's information, there are 6 communes in the region without this document: Traiguén, Villarrica, Loncoche, Lumaco, Melipeuco, and Purén.

The Presidential Delegate of La Araucanía, Eduardo Abdala, stated that the area faces various threats and called on municipalities to be prepared.

However, this is not the only missing tool in La Araucanía's communes, as 10 do not have their Disaster Risk Reduction Plan, which allows for preventive measures in situations such as wildfires.

The director of Senapred in La Araucanía, Alejandro Pliscoff, indicated that the service has made funds available for municipalities to develop these tools and avoided discussing deadlines, though he detailed that there is a schedule depending on each commune's situation.

Of the ten communes (Cunco, Curarrehue, Galvarino, Gorbea, Los Sauces, Lumaco, Melipeuco, Perquenco, Purén, and Renaico) without a Risk Reduction Plan, three also lack an Emergency Plan: Lumaco, Melipeuco, and Purén.

Additionally, 19 communes in La Araucanía reportedly do not have a Disaster Risk Management Office. At least this was revealed by the spokesperson of the Green Social Regionalist Federation, Daniel Sandoval, who accessed the information through Transparency.

In response, the former councilor urged municipalities to regularize all these situations.

The Green Regionalist candidate for deputy also noted that, in detail, 12 lack a Disaster Risk Management Office, 3 are not formalized, three municipalities claim to have no records, and one is dependent on another office.

This situation comes to light just after the Transparency Council revealed that, following an audit, only 20% of the country's communes have an approved Disaster Risk Reduction Plan.
