Valdivia: PDI arrests 4 men for entering forest property carrying firearm in Futa area

Today, the PDI (Investigative Police) announced the arrest of four individuals who entered a forest property in the Futa area of Corral while carrying a firearm. They were apprehended for violating Law 17,798.
According to the information provided, detectives from the Specialized Timber Theft Unit of the Criminal Investigation Brigade (Bicrim) of the PDI in Valdivia carried out the operation. As stated by Subprefect Cristian Muñoz of Bicrim, "while detectives from this unit were conducting investigative procedures for the crime of timber theft in the Futa area of Corral, they managed to identify four men inside a private forest property."
He further explained that upon being detained, a pickup truck they were using was seized, along with a "shotgun loaded with five 12-gauge cartridges. They were unable to prove the origin or ownership of the firearm, leading to their immediate arrest for the flagrant crime of violating Law 17,798 on firearms control."
The detainees are Chilean nationals, all adults, with only one having a prior criminal record for theft and cattle rustling. They were placed at the disposal of the judicial authorities.
