Raico introduces the first radio-controlled skidder for high-slope operations
In an effort to improve safety and efficiency in high-slope forestry operations, Raico introduced the T-Skidder, the first radio-controlled model in the country. This technological innovation marks a significant advancement in reducing risks for operators and optimizing logging processes. Additionally, the range of support equipment is now complemented by the new T-Winch 40.2, the most powerful on the market and in our line of support products.
For high slopes, they also offer a line of ELTEC felling products with greater traction force and turning power, which is now essential for high-slope work. Alongside safety, these support equipment improve performance by reducing the likelihood of shovels or fellers losing traction mid-operation.
Gerardo Jerez, Southern Zone Sales Manager at Raico, emphasized that the company has been incorporating advanced technology to address the challenges of the forestry sector. "Currently, we have radio-controlled equipment such as the Twinch 30.2, 10.3, and 10.2. The first is designed to assist large machinery, while the other two are intended for skidders, excavators, and harvesters," he explained.
Advances in Safety
The use of software and automation in difficult terrain operations has led to significant improvements in safety and productivity. "With the implementation of the T-Skidder, we’ve eliminated the need for operators to be present in high-risk zones, as the equipment is operated remotely, minimizing exposure to accidents," added the executive.
The impact of these innovations translates into a significant reduction in workplace accidents. "In the case of Twinch, by assisting equipment descending steep slopes, vital risks for operators are minimized. With the T-Skidder, the logging process is carried out without workers needing to enter the slope, further enhancing on-site safety," he emphasized.
Raico assured that operator training is a fundamental part of implementing these technologies. "Our personnel receive training directly from the factory, even participating in the manufacturing of the Twinch, ensuring deep knowledge of the equipment and its optimal field operation," Jerez noted.
With these innovations, Raico reinforces its commitment to safety and modernization in the forestry sector, promoting the use of cutting-edge technology.
