The REC Festival, Chile's largest free musical event, celebrated its tenth anniversary on March 15 and 16, once again turning Concepción into the country's cultural epicenter, bringing together over 360,000 people around music.

As in previous editions, ARAUCO joined as a sponsor, highlighting the importance of wood in the manufacturing of musical instruments.

“Wood is present in our lives, and sometimes we don’t see it. In music, a large part of musical instruments are made of or contain wood—a noble and renewable material that comes from the forest and creates a special connection with different artistic expressions. From a guitar or a drum set with its drumsticks to a Peruvian cajón, each piece of wood has its own story and personality, reflected in the unique sound the instrument produces,” emphasized Nicolás Jobet, People and Communications Manager at ARAUCO.

Before REC, surprise sessions were held at ARAUCO facilities featuring renowned musicians from the Biobío region. Singer-songwriter Cantáreman and the band Los Santos Dumont performed at the Arauco Pulp Mill – Line 3, the Bioforest research center, the San Andrés offices in Concepción, and Coyanmahuida Park in the commune of Florida.

Driven by the commitment of the Biobío Regional Government, the Biobío Theater, and a network of public and private institutions, this festival has grown and evolved, establishing itself as one of the country’s three most important events, alongside Lollapalooza and Viña del Mar. It enriches cultural life, boosts the local economy, and projects Concepción’s identity across Chile.
