The Biobío Energy Seremi,Jorge Cáceres, resigned this Wednesday amid harsh criticism from the political sphere for referring to Chile as "a cup of milk" (a peaceful country), despite the attack that left 45 trucks and 5 machines burned this week in Rucalhue.

Government sources toldEmolthat Cáceres made the decision in recent hours following strong backlash from Congress.

The now former seremi announced his resignation after a meeting with the Biobío delegate,Eduardo Pacheco.

Cáceres' remarks were made during the event "Economic Agenda 2025," organized by the Regional Business Administration Institute (Irade). After his statements,he was booed by the audience.

"Remember that evenPresident (Sebastián) Piñera, whom many here likely voted for, said he would eliminate crime, and not only did he not eliminate it, but it increased. So that’s something we must also take responsibility for," the former seremi also stated.

Cáceres' words were criticized both in Congress and within the government itself, where the Minister of Public Security,Luis Cordero, labeled the remarks as "inappropriate" and claimed they "degrade citizens."

Meanwhile, the Minister of Energy,Diego Pardow, directly called Cáceres to reprimand him shortly before he submitted his resignation.
