Days after attack in the area: Bío Bío Energy Seremi claims "the country is a cup of milk"
This Wednesday, during an Irade forum on the economic situation, the Energy Seremi of the Bío Bío region, Jorge Cáceres, stated that "the country is a cup of milk" in terms of security, following the attack that occurred in the commune of Santa Bárbara.
In that context, he added, "I walk at 2 or 3 in the morning without any problem."
Along the same lines, he said that what happened is serious, but if analyzed from a national perspective, "it's a cup of milk." "What has happened this week is undoubtedly serious, but if you analyze it from a national and international standpoint, the country is a cup of milk—meaning, am I afraid to go out? I walk at two or three in the morning without any problem, it's a cup of milk. Remember that even President Piñera, whom many here likely voted for, said he would eliminate crime, and not only did he not eliminate it, but it increased. So these are things we must address," he asserted.
In response, the Presidential Delegate of the Bío Bío region, Eduardo Pacheco, stated that he does not share Cáceres' opinion, as the country has seen significant improvements in security.
The regional authority added that this is reflected in the increased investment allocated to the police forces.
