Massive Fire Affects Structure at Celulosa Arauco Plant
A massive fire has affected one of the structures at the Celulosa Arauco plant in the Bío Bío region. Currently, the blaze is under control.
According to information obtained by La Radio, the emergency began around 4:30 PM in the wood chip conveyor belt in the Wood Area of Line 3 at the Celulosa Arauco plant.
To combat the fire, internal plant brigades, forestry teams, and firefighters from Arauco, as well as Los Álamos, Lota, and Coronel, intervened.
Specifically, two fire trucks arrived to support the brigade efforts.
The fire is under control, meaning there is no risk of the flames spreading to other areas. Additionally, no injuries have been reported as a result of the incident.
"What is being done now is working on the hot spots remaining within the area affected by the fire in this sector," stated Carlos Montalva, Fire Chief and emergency coordinator for the Municipality of Arauco.
It was also noted that brigade members and firefighters will enter the upper part of the emergency site via the wet networks of the facility. This is to extinguish the remaining fire from top to bottom and address existing hot spots, as the monitors from the fire trucks cannot effectively reach the top of the structure.
