Innovation and Key Laws Set the Agenda at Trawü Forestal
The Twentieth Trawü Forestal, inaugurated in the Ñuble Region, brought together the sector's top authorities, marking a milestone for strengthening dialogue and innovation in the forestry industry.
The executive director of the Forestry Institute (Infor), Sandra Gacitúa, emphasized Infor's role in the sector's technological development. "We not only have forests and timber but also non-timber forest products, which can be seen today in the various stands at this event. At the Forestry Institute, we aim to add forestry value to the different research lines we develop," she explained, highlighting how research and innovation enable progress toward a more diversified and sustainable industry.
Meanwhile, the executive director of CONAF, Aída Baldini, focused on regulatory challenges, stressing the importance of advancing key laws for the sector. "Many doubts from the private sector were clarified at Trawü Forestal. We believe we can move forward with a forestry promotion and sustainable management law, in addition to getting the Wildfire Prevention Law approved in Congress," she stated, calling for prioritizing legislative initiatives that strengthen environmental management and risk prevention.
The president of the Wood Corporation (Corma), Rodrigo O’Ryan, also valued the event as a space for constructive dialogue. "We talked, we saw the good and bad experiences, and where we can complement each other. No more divisions—political or social—but rather realizing we are all one, with a long-term vision to build through honest and empathetic dialogue that generates value," he affirmed.
During his visit to Ñuble, the Minister of Agriculture, Esteban Valenzuela, also led the signing of the third agreement of the Productive Alliance Program 2025-2026 between Indap and the Coovincen cooperative, highlighting the season's good prices, harvest quality, and the cooperative's ability to produce wine and ensure fair incomes for its members.
Finally, Valenzuela emphasized: "This is a moment where we are completing the sustainable transformation of the forestry sector. We launched the Biodiversity and Protected Areas Service; the National Forestry Service was created, which is a strengthened CONAF, with more civil service careers, transparency, and executive selection through top management. All this serves the forestry industry, which contributes so much to employment, work, carbon capture, and the environment across the south-central coast of the country."
