Fire destroys plant of the Match Company in Retiro

The tranquility of the commune of Retiro, in the Maule region, was disrupted in the early hours of the morning when a large-scale fire broke out at the Fósforos Copihue plant. Firefighters from various localities, including Retiro, Parral, and Longaví, quickly mobilized to combat the flames, which consumed two of the company's warehouses—one for storage and another for production, each spanning 400 square meters.

The fire, which started around four in the morning, was brought under control by emergency teams, who managed to prevent further spread. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is underway to determine its origin and dynamics.

Carabineros has reported that the flagrancy prosecutor of Parral has instructed the deployment of Labocar personnel to conduct the necessary inquiries. The community anxiously awaits answers while damages are assessed and plans are made to recover what was lost in this unfortunate incident.
