The Commission for Peace and Understanding was established in June 2023 with the aim of advising the President of the Republic on building the foundations for a long-term solution to the territorial issues in the regions of Biobío, La Araucanía, Los Ríos, and Los Lagos.
The work of this presidential commission fostered a dialogue process involving over 5,000 people from diverse sectors, including Mapuche communities, farmers, forestry workers, trade associations, and victims of rural violence.
This document presents a set of proposals to advance toward a new relationship between the State and the Mapuche people, addressing issues such as land and territory, justice, comprehensive reparations, development, and institutional frameworks.
