Ñuble: Silvoagricultural Exports Accumulate an 18.7% Increase
Silvoagricultural exports from Ñuble totaled US$571.7 million between January and May 2025, representing an 18.7% increase compared to the US$481.5 million recorded in the same period last year, according to a report from the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa) of the Ministry of Agriculture, based on data from the Customs Directorate.
The region accounted for 5.9% of the country's silvoagricultural exports, ranking sixth nationally. Ñuble's positive performance contrasts with the 3.0% decline averaged by all regions in the country.
The growth is attributed to the strong performance of the forestry and agricultural sectors, particularly in the categories of processed wood and frozen fruits.
According to Odepa's report, forestry shipments in the first five months of 2025 reached US$343.9 million, marking a 28.1% increase compared to January-May 2024, driven by improved external conditions for timber. Meanwhile, agricultural exports totaled US$227.4 million, reflecting a 7.0% rise compared to the same period in 2024, influenced by positive results in processed fruits and vegetable shipments.
Livestock shipments lagged behind, totaling US$387 thousand during the period, a 20.0% drop compared to January-May 2024.
Main Sectors
By sector, processed wood shipments (US$84.5 million) stood out with a 109.6% increase.
Similarly, sawn wood (US$57.5 million) showed a 144.6% rise compared to the first five months of last year.
In the case of cellulose, while it remains the top export product at US$200.4 million, it saw a slight decline of 1.1%.
Processed fruits—primarily frozen—(US$86.3 million) also showed strong dynamism, expanding by 38.2% compared to January-May 2024, with higher volumes, significantly outperforming fresh fruit (US$78.6 million), which grew by 6.5%, with poor cherry figures and average blueberry performance.
Processed vegetables (US$13.8 million) recorded a 46.1% increase.
On the other hand, the seed sector failed to surpass last year's numbers, as exports of sowing seeds (US$14.6 million) fell by 51.4% compared to January-May 2024, due to lower demand in the Northern Hemisphere.
Destinations
The main destinations for Ñuble's silvoagricultural exports between January and May of this year were: China, with a 33% share; the United States, with 31%; South Korea, Mexico, and Japan, each with 4%; while the remaining 25% was distributed among other countries.
