In a major strike against illegal timber trafficking, Carabineros from the 2nd Police Station for Public Order Control (COP) Pailahueque carried out an operation in the Selva Oscura sector, on Route R-881, which culminated in the arrest of nine individuals and the seizure of stolen timber valued at approximately $4 million. The police action, supported by aerial surveillance technology, also led to the recovery of two trucks and a car used in the illegal activity.

Commander Daniel Romo, leading the operation, highlighted the efficiency and speed of the Carabineros specialized in rural interventions. "In total, nine subjects were detained," reported the officer, who also noted the seizure of over 64 cubic meters of eucalyptus wood, a chainsaw, and portable communication equipment. The use of the UAV Camcopter drone was key to tracking and capturing those involved in the theft.

The detainees and the gathered evidence were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office, which will continue with the relevant investigations to fully clarify the facts and determine the judicial responsibilities of those involved.

This operation not only represents a victory in the fight against the theft of natural resources but also demonstrates the authorities' commitment to protecting private property and preserving the environment in the region.
