The fashion industry takes a step forward in sustainability with the launch of "From Tree to Your Home," an innovative proposal that brings together forestry company Arauco and social innovation platform 1KO. This collaboration has resulted in a series of scarves made from viscose, an eco-friendly textile fiber derived from eucalyptus cellulose pulp produced at Arauco's plant in Valdivia, Chile.

Cristián Infante, CEO of Arauco, highlights the importance of this initiative: "We produce textile pulp used for various garments. We wanted to promote our product and enhance it with Chilean artists, showcasing the wonders that can be created with the textile pulp from our trees."

The Valdivia Pulp Plant is where this eucalyptus textile pulp is produced, serving as the base for viscose—a natural, biodegradable fiber with high environmental performance. Compared to synthetic fibers, viscose consumes up to 60 times less water and has a significantly lower carbon footprint, thanks to its origin in internationally certified forests that capture CO₂ during their growth.

Marcela Wulf, Deputy Manager of People and Public Affairs at ARAUCO, emphasizes the added value of the project: "It’s special because it highlights something deeply ours: a fiber developed in the Los Ríos Region, now transformed into design, art, and purposeful fashion."

The collection, developed in partnership with 1KO, reflects the biodiversity of three conservation areas protected by ARAUCO: Parque Oncol, Caramávida, and Cordillera de Huemules. Each scarf was interpreted by a national brand, including Ignacia Jullian, SAGO Estudio, and Bad Sisters, who drew inspiration from local flora and fauna for their designs.

Macarena Cortés, co-founder of 1KO, and Alejandra Mustakis, designer and partner at 1KO, highlight the importance of collaboration and sustainability in the business model, both environmentally and economically.

The collection has not only captured the essence of Chilean forests but has also crossed borders, making its international debut in Milan at the Challenge the Fabric event and solidifying its presence with its launch in Santiago—uniting the forestry industry, national design, and sustainability in a full cycle.
