In a successful operation carried out by Carabineros from the 6th Police Station of Ercilla, with the collaboration of members of the Pailahueque outpost and the 2nd Public Order Police Station (COP), four individuals were arrested after being caught illegally extracting wood from the Huequén property, located at kilometer 14 of Route R-525.

The commissioner(s) of the 6th Police Station of Ercilla, Captain Cristóbal Yáñez, reported that the procedure began after receiving information about illicit activities related to the unauthorized exploitation of forest resources in the rural area. Police officers quickly mobilized to the scene, where they found the individuals in the act of logging.

During the intervention, two trucks and three chainsaws were seized, which are presumed to have been used to cut down the trees. The confiscated material is key evidence of the illegal logging crime being committed.

The four detained men, all adults, were placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor's Office. The Local Prosecutor's Office in Collipulli ruled that the individuals would undergo a detention hearing, where precautionary measures and next steps in the judicial process will be determined.

This operation sends a clear message from authorities in their fight against the theft of natural resources and illegal logging, activities that not only constitute a crime but also have a negative impact on the environment and the local economy.

The swift action by Carabineros and the cooperation between different police units were crucial to the success of this procedure, demonstrating the effectiveness of security forces in protecting natural resources and private property.
