Attack in Ercilla: Worker Injured and Machinery Set on Fire
In a serious incident this morning in the commune of Ercilla, La Araucanía Region, a forestry worker was shot and injured, and several pieces of machinery were burned in an arson attack. Lieutenant Colonel Aldo Vittini, Deputy Prefect of the Malleco Prefecture Services, reported that the attack occurred around 11:00 a.m., when a group of workers was extracting wood at the Fundo Bolleco.
According to Vittini's account, a pickup truck with at least two occupants arrived at the scene, and the armed, violent assailants assaulted and intimidated the workers. One of the employees suffered a gunshot wound to the left leg and had to be urgently transported to the Ercilla Family Health Center for medical attention.
The attackers proceeded to set fire to a forestry truck and other machinery before fleeing the scene. The Prosecutor's Office has assigned Labocar and OS9 to conduct the investigation and necessary procedures to clarify the facts and identify those responsible for this attack.
This incident adds to a series of attacks that have affected the forestry industry in the region, creating an atmosphere of tension and concern among workers and companies in the sector.
