Sustainable Strengthening is Key in the Forestry Industry of Los Ríos
At a recent meeting of the Forestry Industry Promotion Roundtable, held at the regional headquarters of the Forestry Institute (INFOR) in Valdivia, the commitment of various stakeholders to the sustainable development of the forestry sector in the Los Ríos Region was reaffirmed.
The session included the participation of government representatives, forestry associations, and private entities, who discussed the progress and future challenges of the industry.
The executive director of the National Forestry Corporation (CONAF), Rodrigo Illescas, highlighted the Roundtable as an example of effective collaboration between the public and private sectors, essential for the sustainable management of native forests. Meanwhile, Rodrigo Mujica, R&D&I manager at INFOR, emphasized the importance of decentralization and territorial planning to enrich national public policies.
The Forestry Industry Promotion Roundtable, driven by the Regional Government and led by the Productive Development Corporation, aims to promote the sustainable development of the forestry sector through the coordination of strategic actions and the efficient use of timber in the regional economy.
To date, six working sessions have been held, consolidating a permanent space for dialogue and proposal development.
Among the participants are representatives from the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Economy, CORFO, Regional Government, Regional Productive Development Corporation, and private sector associations and stakeholders such as Pymemad, Aprobosque, Achbiom, Corma Bosque Nativo, and the College of Forestry Engineers of Chile. With a participatory and territorial approach, the Roundtable stands as a coordination platform to address the challenges of a modern, resilient, and sustainable forestry industry.
