Truckers from the southern zone meet in La Araucanía with Carabineros to reinforce road safety
Truckers from the south of the country met in the La Araucanía region with Carabineros generals to coordinate actions aimed at improving road safety.
The president of the central-south truckers' association, with jurisdiction between the Metropolitan region and Magallanes, Freddy Martínez, appreciated the working meeting they held with the police institution's generals.
"We were specifying both locations and situations that affect us in terms of road safety, truck robberies, stoning, and also everything related to the so-called red zone, truck burnings, and all these complex situations we have experienced," he detailed.
Adding that "while it is true that our central-south truckers' institution imposed a state of emergency in 2022, which has helped reduce these indicators, terrorist groups still remain active."
The meeting follows recent arson attacks recorded in the area, such as the one carried out by an armed group at the Angol Collipulli landfill, which left eight machines burned.
This is in addition to an attack committed at the Lejano Oeste Inn in the commune of Ercilla, where masked individuals burned two trucks.
