With the goal of properly addressing the committed measures regarding reforestation and native forest recovery, the Zapallar Reservoir Working Group was formed, an initiative led by the Regional Presidential Delegate of Ñuble, Rodrigo García Hurtado. Present at the meeting were the Zapallar Project Manager, Rodrigo Saavedra Palacios; the Head of the Environment and Territory Department of the DOH, Silvio Rivera Torca, along with his team, as well as the Regional Minister of Agriculture, Antonio Arriagada Vallejos, with the directors of the Agricultural and Livestock Service (SAG) and the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf), among others.

Delegate Rodrigo García stated: "I want to highlight the importance of building the Zapallar Reservoir to strengthen regional agriculture, especially in the communes of El Carmen, San Ignacio, and part of Pinto, if expansion is feasible. This is a working group where it was agreed to establish a permanent committee; we will meet once a month with the various technical teams from the services directly involved in the reservoir's construction. I thank the team from the National Directorate of Hydraulic Works; Rodrigo Saavedra, the project manager, because by coming here, we can strengthen the working relationships between national and regional teams. We believe this is essential to meet all the requirements established in the RCA and to advance swiftly and appropriately in fulfilling the commitments for the reservoir's construction."

Rodrigo Saavedra, Project Manager of the Zapallar Reservoir, emphasized: "I want to thank the presidential delegate for deciding to set up a working group with the technical services of the region, such as Conaf, the National Monuments Council, SAG, Minvu, among others, to properly resolve all commitments associated with the Zapallar Reservoir. We are talking about the Environmental Qualification Resolution and the Sectoral Environmental Permits that must soon be approved, so with this committee, what we do is create a technical discussion platform that allows us to move forward toward the construction of the Zapallar Reservoir."

The Zapallar Reservoir is a multipurpose project that will not only provide irrigation but also supply water for human consumption, control floods, provide water to combat forest fires, strengthen tourism development, and enable water sports, among other benefits.
