Primo and Alba: A Story Rooted in Tirúa

On the rural roads of Tirúa, among green hills and southern winds, lives a family whose bond with the forest goes beyond work: it is identity, memory, and future. Primo Retamal and his mother, Alba Villanueva, have made the forest their home and livelihood, intertwining generations with the landscape and its people.

For decades, Alba has been an active part of her community, witnessing how the environment changes, but also how it is defended and cared for. Primo, inheriting that commitment, has worked on the ground, engaging with companies, neighbors, and authorities, striving to ensure that forestry development not only creates jobs but also respect and opportunities for all.

Theirs is not a story of grand speeches but of concrete actions. Of being present when needed. Of building bridges between the industry and those who live on the land. In times when sustainability cannot wait, the Retamal Villanueva family shows that a different relationship with the forest is possible: one where production goes hand in hand with roots and care.

At Acoforag, we believe these stories must be told. Because they are real. Because they inspire. And because they show that forestry work, when done with respect, can be part of a dignified life and a better future.
