Losses of $5 Billion Left by Attacks on Forestry Operations
Losses exceeding $4.9 billion, due to the burning of 42 vehicles and machinery during attacks on forestry operations, are revealed in the "Report on Arson Attacks Against Forestry Contractors," covering the period between January 1 and July 1 of this year.
The study, prepared by the Association of Forestry Contractors, details that the violent actions are concentrated in the communes of Los Sauces, Collipulli, Ercilla, Lautaro, and Nueva Imperial, in La Araucanía; and Los Álamos, Arauco, and Mulchén, in Biobío. During the attacks, 13 trucks, 13 pickup trucks, and four cranes, among other equipment, were burned.
Additionally, the manager of Acoforag, René Muñoz, condemned the aggression against workers, referring to the attack on July 1 in Ercilla, which left one worker with gunshot wounds and another with injuries from beatings.
