Son of Murdered Worker Demands Justice and Calls for Government to "See the Reality of Chile"
Pain and dismay were expressed by the son of Manuel León Urra (60), a worker brutally murdered following an armed attack in Victoria, La Araucanía region. The family member called on the Government to "go out and see the reality of Chile," demanding justice for the incident.
In an interview with Radio Bío Bío in Temuco, Manuel Alejandro León González stated that he hopes his father’s death "is not just another number among all that has happened over time in La Araucanía."
Along these lines, he urged the Government to "once and for all go out and see the reality of Chile, because in the end, we are from La Araucanía, hardworking people, who have long been adrift in matters of security."
"Because it’s not the first time; it has happened many times to other people as well. And everything ends up on paper or in impunity, investigations, all that, but in the end, no results are seen," he asserted.

León González insisted that they seek to raise their voice so that such crimes do not continue to occur, stating that "today there is a shattered family, children, grandchildren, friends."
"My father was a very friendly person, someone I consider very correct in every way, and for him to have died the way he was murdered is not right. Because we are people, we are hardworking, decent, striving individuals," he noted.
Thus, he denied that there had been any prior threat against his father, indicating that they maintain a very good relationship with their neighbors in the community where they live.
"Here, terrorism is already breaking all limits, because in the end, they entrench themselves in their cause. What cause are we talking about? Murdering innocent people?" he questioned.
"Here, we need them to once and for all step up and protect the people, the citizens, because enough is enough with what is happening. We just want to bury our father in tranquility and peace, and above all, for justice to be served," he added.

Finally, regarding his father’s funeral, he said, "that will be more of a family atmosphere. We will now take him to his field so he can spend his final moments there, to say goodbye to his land, his crops, his livestock, and his family and friends."
In this way, he concluded that there is "a lot of pain. But beyond that, we can’t do anything. We place our trust in justice, but let justice be served once and for all, not left as empty words or to the wind; let justice be done here in La Araucanía."
