Copiapó, Atacama Region. The Regional Directorate of SENAPRED reported this Monday the cancellation of the Red Alert and the declaration of a Yellow Alert for the commune of Copiapó, due to the evolution of the forest fire called "Rafael Zorraindo."

According to technical data provided by CONAF, the fire is now controlled in its advancing front, with an affected area of 0.04 hectares. However, the flames remain close to inhabited sectors, with a potential spread toward populated areas, homes, and critical infrastructure, keeping the risk active.

In this context, and in coordination with the Regional Presidential Delegation of Atacama, it has been decided to modify the alert level, shifting from Red to Yellow. This measure will remain in effect from today until the fire conditions warrant it.

With this declaration, SENAPRED will maintain resources available in a phased manner, reinforcing the work of CONAF, Firefighters, and the National Disaster Prevention and Response System, aiming to contain the fire's spread and minimize impacts on people, property, and the environment.
