Operation in Collipulli Arrests Community Member Accused of Extortion and Timber Theft

An ongoing operation in the commune of Collipulli (La Araucanía Region) has so far resulted in the arrest of two individuals, one of whom is Matías Huentecol, a well-known werkén in the area accused of extortion and timber theft.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, Huentecol committed the crimes in February of this year when he demanded that a farmer hand over five thousand kilos of wheat and 700 thousand pesos in exchange for allowing him to harvest.

Fearing retaliation, the victim ultimately complied.

In addition to Huentecol, a woman was caught in flagrante delicto possessing drugs—preliminarily identified as marijuana—and a shotgun.

Both will be presented today before the Collipulli Guarantee Court.
