UACh Researchers Presented Tactical Forest Planning Model to the Los Ríos Forestry Industry Promotion Board
As part of the initiatives of the Los Ríos Forestry Industry Promotion Board, UACh academic Mauricio Ruíz-Tagle was invited to present the progress of the new software, the Tactical Forest Planning Model (MPT). This initiative is a pilot technology transfer project funded by the Los Ríos Regional Government and implemented in collaboration with the company West Ingeniería. It will allow updating and testing the software in a real-world environment before scaling its use to other companies in the sector.
Dr. Mauricio Ruíz-Tagle from the Faculty of Engineering Sciences explained, "The invitation to present the project to the Los Ríos Forestry Promotion Board provided an opportunity to share both the experience gained in developing this tool and the possibilities opened by this transfer pilot, in a setting that included the main public and private stakeholders of the regional forestry sector."
Dr. Ruíz-Tagle added, "During the MPT presentation to the Forestry Promotion Board, there was significant interest from the attendees, reflected in their questions, comments, and the connections made with those present, with the aim of evaluating potential new contracts for the use and application of this platform."
This tool is still in the testing phase with West Ingeniería, and its scaling within the forestry industry is expected in the medium term.
