King Felipe VI had a special meeting when he received in Spain a Chilean pilot who collaborated in controlling the wildfires that struck the European country.

Chilean pilot Juan Arriagada Mella, originally from Talcahuano, arrived at the Zarzuela Palace to receive recognition alongside a delegation of 60 people.

In a statement, the Spanish Royal House detailed that "His Majesty the King has received in audience a representation of the personnel involved in the aerial unit that participated in extinguishing the August wildfires, and who were on duty during his visit to the affected areas."

Personnel from the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, the affected Autonomous Communities of Castilla y León, Galicia, and Extremadura, and the Autonomous Communities that assisted with their aerial resources in extinguishing the fires also participated.

In a video shared on social media by the Spanish Royal House, Arriagada Mella is seen stating before the monarch that "one participates in these fires with the satisfaction of duty fulfilled, of returning home peacefully and knowing the fire was extinguished."

"I was in Murcia, where the community provided the helicopter to combat the fire in Extremadura, specifically the Jarilla fire. Therefore, we worked representing the Murcian Community in that fire," the Chilean detailed in a conversation with Radio Bio-Bío.
