The Human Engine Behind the Forest: The Story of Josué Ramírez

In La Araucanía, where forestry work sets the rhythm of daily life, the figure of Josué Ramírez, a forestry truck maintainer, emerges. His trade, often invisible, is key to ensuring wood makes it from the worksites to the industries, guaranteeing continuity and safety in one of the most relevant production chains in southern Chile.

The Association of Forestry Contractors (Acoforag) decided to share his story as part of a series aimed at putting a face to those who support the sector from anonymity. Through a video shared on their digital platforms, the organization highlights Josué’s testimony, in which he proudly describes the sense of belonging that comes from working close to the forests and his community.

“We connect the forest with the communities,” he states, summarizing the value of his work in one sentence. For him, every repair and maintenance task goes beyond the technical: it is a commitment to the development of the area and the natural environment that has surrounded him since childhood.

In a context where the forestry sector often appears in the news due to economic figures or social conflicts, stories like Josué’s offer a different perspective: that of the people who, day after day, sustain this activity—which drives the local economy—through effort, knowledge, and deep ties to the land.
